YU Yureka: Indian Handset with CyanogenMod
The soap opera involving Cyanogen Inc., OnePlus, and Micromax is one
of the most talked about topics in the last few weeks.Micromax’s Yu brand announced their first smartphone: the Yureka. It’s a big, relatively powerful, and budget-friendly handset poised to take the Indian market by storm.
In reality, the Yureka is nothing more than the Micromax CoolPad F2 with Yu’s logo, a Qualcomm Snapdragon instead of a MediaTek SoC, and CyanogenMod as its operating system. It will ship with KitKat, with Lollipop on the way as soon as CM’s engineers make the project more mature to be included as an OS.
Let’s take a look what the Yureka has to offer:
Cyanogen is including some extra stuff in its ROM: Users will be able to make use of a nice set of themes and support for Nextbit Baton, a software sync platform that allows backing up apps and app settings, and even seamlessly transfer the state of an app from one device to another.
The Yureka will be available exclusively on Amazon.in starting December 19th. While the official launch date remains unknown, everything should become clear in a few days. Meanwhile, you can share your thoughts about this device in the newly opened forum for YU Yureka.
